8-14 year old Senior Campers

Limited to a group of 18

Senior Campers write, produce and perform an original musical play in 5 days on the TLAC stage! (Yes, it can be done!) We brainstorm story ideas on Monday, discuss the various possibilities, and then take a vote to determine which idea is of most interest to the majority of the campers. Then we start writing scenes in small groups. At the end of the day, our wonderful instructors spend all night completing the script, adding the songs, and making music practice CDs for the campers. After a read through Tuesday morning, campers will audition for parts in the show. Since we write the script for that camp, each camper gets a role. We don’t have a ‘star’ system – so all parts are about the same size (we even count lines as we write to make certain!) Tuesday afternoon we begin staging the show, learning songs and choreography – and we hand out the camp t-shirts. Wednesday morning campers see one of our Summer children’s musicals and then continue staging and working on characterization through Thursday. We also are preparing costumes, props, sound effects, programs, etc during this time. On Friday we put together the finishing touches and have dress rehearsal. Senior campers will perform their show at 3pm on Friday for family and friends.
